What's Included in General Dentistry?

Here are some helpful guidelines to follow while you’re on your way or waiting for your appointment:
Knocked-Out Tooth (Avulsed Tooth)
• Try not to touch the root, only handle the tooth by the crown
• Rinse gently if dirty, but do not scrub
• If possible, place the tooth back into the socket
• If not, keep the tooth in cold milk or inside the cheek
(older children/adults)
• Call us immediately, timing is critical
Severe Toothache
• Rinse mouth with warm salt water
• Use a cold compress for swelling
• Avoid hot, cold or sugary food and drinks
• Take over-the-counter pain relief (as directed)
• Call us to be seen urgently
Lost Crown or Filling
• Keep the crown safe, we may be able to re-cement it
• Avoid chewing on that side
• Contact us as soon as possible to prevent further
damage or infection
Facial Swelling or Abscess
Swelling could indicate infection or a dental abscess.
Symptoms may include:

• Pain, throbbing or pressure
• Foul taste or drainage
• Fever or general discomfort
Infection can spread quickly. Please call us immediately for assessment and treatment.
